Ross Ellis Stewart
BSc(hons) MSc
I am an award-winning architect with over 16 years of experience in designing and delivering high-impact architectural projects across diverse sectors, including commercial, residential, and conservation. With a focus on sustainability, innovative design, and heritage conservation, I have delivered several high profile projects, including those located within conservation areas and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. My expertise spans listed buildings up to Category A and includes the integration of modern design with historic contexts, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working for leading architecture firms, such as Sheppard Robson, Norr, Aedas, RMJM, and Michael Laird Architects. This experience has not only honed my design skills but also my ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects. My work has been recognized with multiple industry awards, including those from BCO (British Council for Offices), RIAS (Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland), Historic Environment Scotland, RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), and the Scottish Design Awards. After completing a BSc in Architectural Design and a Master's in Urban Design at the University of Strathclyde, I became ARB-registered in 2010. In 2021, I founded my own architecture practice to deliver tailored, sustainable design solutions that meet the evolving needs of my clients.
Design Ethos
I understand the added value that design brings to your project. Your brief and the project’s requirements are enabled with thoughtful, intelligent and imaginative solutions.
I have worked hard to gain experience at all stages of the design process. Leaning on that experience I will skillfully lead your project from inception through to completion.
I believe in the gesamtkunstwerk or 'total work' ethos. This means shaping the whole project from urban context, through the architecture and interior design and into the brand identity for your building. The story of the building is woven into the building's materials, colour schemes and signage.
I can handle the necessary statutory permissions for planning, listed building and conservation area consents, advertising consent as well as applications for building warrant.
Utilising the latest BIM software from Autodesk, I have the capability to bring the complex elements of a project together seamlessly and visualise your project in three dimensions.
